Hey folks … im probably overthinking this…. I’ve a non load bearing wall with a door on a 1969 extension were moved away from knocking the wall down to build a timber frame and house the door and windows in a more traditional way to the standard window door window ie flag door flag question is- when the door is removed from the existing space, I need to knock out about another 600mm of wall to the right and then be able to seat the door and windows together so how do I finish the area above? It’s about 9” and I’m just wondering if I somehow make a simple wooden frame with a 9” double header to hold the section cross joints above…

Where do I start… I’ve always been a diy person ever since I was about 5 and my grandad gave me a hand twist drill for woodwork. fast forward 42 years and I’m 47, having completed a few projects ie gutting and refitting my wc, fitting my own kitchen (albeit Ikea) and now I’m in the middle of a legal battle with my builder who has taken 25k out of 29k for a build that has a leaking roof, blown plasterboard beneath and a wall which has to come out at the front of the house (non supporting part of a 1969 extension) to house a new front door lacking confidence is the problem and just need some support to help get my home and family secure.
