  1. I’m creating a wetroom and need a finished size (before tiles) of 30mm and already got my 12mm tile backer boards so require 18mm for subfloor. A lot of people online recommended ply.
  2. Hi, Just about to purchase the sub floor for my new bathroom, I'll be using 18mm ply straight onto the joists which are at 350mm centres. I'll also be using 12mm tile backer board then tiles on top. I was going to order the below ply from wickes but it's not got great reviews, does anyone have any experience with it? Or recommend another supplier or type? https://www.wickes.co.uk/Structural-CE2%2B-Plywood-Sheet---18-x-1220-x-2440mm/p/252240#
  3. Hi Tony, Quick question. on the data sheet for the Eclisse pocket door, the overall height installation is 2056. which is top of finished floor level to bottom of header stud work. I'm mounting the system straight onto my floorboards, but once I have my tile backers, adhesive and tiles down (approx. 25mm), the door won't shut. Am I correct with this? If so, whats the solution. Thank you
  4. Thank you, would you put in noggins in the floor joists and screw into them? Annoyingly the sole plate is only about 50mm away from the parallel joist!
  5. Hi, Just about to start adding a stud wall in my bedroom to create an ensuite. The floor is 18mm T&G floorboards which are in an okay condition (albeit 75 years old!). I'm going to change the floorboards in the ensuite to 18mm Marine ply as I need to rip it up for plumbing works anyhow. For the stud wall I'm adding, would you fix the sole plate directly onto the floorboards or would you remove the floorboards and fit the sole plate to the floor joists? I'm doing a 2 sided, L shape stud so one of the sides will be running parallel to the floor joists so will need to add some noggins on the floor joists to be able to fix it. Thank you.
  6. Hi Tony, Appreciate your reply, exactly what I was hoping to here! and looks very similar to what I have in mind.
  7. Hi Mike, Appreciate the info and I know people don't tend to use pocket doors unless necessary. To be honest, the door will hardly ever get used, it's for an ensuite in our bedroom and we almost decided not to even have a door but thought we'd use a pocket door just in case we ever needed too close it. I've designed the ensuite so there's no electrical or plumbing within that void.
  8. Has anyone installed a Eclisse single pocket door with a finished wall thickness of 95mm? About to create a new ensuite with 36x63 stud work but worried the wall might be flimsy? Especially if tiling onto it once complete. I was going to use 38 x 89mm stud work but want to maximise the dimensions of the ensuite as much as possible. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi Nick, That's great thank you! Will start digging down over the weekend and see what the best route is. Appreciate the advice!
  10. Hi Nick, I've not started the dig yet so unsure on the actual depth but happy to dig out where necessary if i need to go lower. I set my mind on going through the foundations with the BR's requirement of 50mm clearance around pipe would mean a +210mm hole into my foundation which I wasn’t too keen on! If I were to go under and run the 110mm pipe though a sleeve, what material is suitable for this? Does it need to withstand high load or is PVC suitable? Thank in advance.
  11. Hi, I'm installing a new soil pipe it our 70s house, which has a crawl space. I plan on going through or under the foundation, which is the best route? Is there any standard procedures/diagrams to follow? Thank you!
  12. Hi, I'm sure this might have been asked before but can't seem to find the answers I'm looking for! I'm putting in a wet room shower myself in our new en suite but can't decide between the Abacus Element Infinity and Abacus Uno linear system. (both single fall systems) Does anyone have any experience with any of them? I'm looking at ~900mm wide by 1200mm long, my shower screen is only 1000mm long doe to space restriction, will the last 200mm of the fall look untidy/incorrect? I was originally going to go with the standard element level access with end drain/multiple fall system, but thought the single fall systems looked neater. If anyone has any advice on the above it would be appreciated! Thank you.
