  1. Thanks. Will try that, I don't feel that's an unreasonable request.
  2. Morning Thanks all for the responses. From what I understand, they're planning to change them from wooden to aluminium but keeping the same size. We have planted some bushes that will grow to a decent height so that should lessen the overlooking effect hopefully. I did contact the council as we, nor the other homeowners, had been contacted out of politeness really to say that there would be 4 weeks of building work going on. That morning we all had letters through the door with the build programme. Looks as though we'll be going out to get some miracle grow for those bushes. Thanks again to those that have responded. *Edit* For anyone still looking at this, this is the scaffolding for what's going to be put up.
  3. Hi, I'm afraid this probably won't be very brief but could really use some advice if possible please. We bought our home in 2023, doing the silly thing and seeing it at night (lots of pressure to find somewhere and at the time properties were being snapped up quickly). Images of the garden looked great, as it was a night viewing we didn't go out. House needed some work but all doable so we offered and they took it off the market. The sellers invited us round to go through some bits and at that point we noticed the council maisonette properties nextdoor had very tired looking balconies. The sellers told us that they'd been condemned and would be coming down. They were a concern for me but the house was (just about) the right price and the location perfect with other family members nearby and also good local schools. We've lived here for 2 years now and unfortunately some of the residents in the council properties haven't been the best, however the person who currently lives in the maisonette with the nearest balcony is very good. My wife was heading out to work the other week and couldn't get out of the road due to vans blocking it. One of the workers came up, apologised and said they were there to remove the balconies and would be replacing with Juliet ones. They have fully taken the old balconies down but we've now been told they will be replaced with new ones, not Juliet style. I don't want to begrudge anyone an outside space but my main concern is that, due to how much these balconies overlook our garden (I'm talking about 2mtrs away from our fence, side boundary), should the nice person leave (she wants to) and be replaced with someone of the ilk we had that lived underneath her, who is currently on remand and has a history of drug dealing with all the associates you would expect, someone like that having access to a structure which is essentially in our garden would be a disaster to be honest, especially with us having a young daughter. There have been other things but I don't want to take up too much of your time and ultimately, my question is... Given the original balconies have been completely removed, should planning permission have been sought to build new ones/replacements? Any advice that can be offered would be appreciated and thanks for reading.
