Getting to that time of year, will have to get christmas lights up again. Looking any tips on keeping them in place, i use the gutter clips but every year they blow up on top of the roof and into the gutter. Should i perhaps secure them to underneath the soffit, what would i use Or maybe put a fishing weight on the end of each light https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09CMGDBFF?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I need to move them as they will be open for when im cooking and closed when im not I believe both rails linked can be moved. Might just go with the cheap plastic ones on amazon, or ill ask my joiner if he can route a z profile on some cedar

Im trying to get some louvre slats like the ones in the following links. Hoping to get theze Z shaped slats in the UK. This guy is from Estonia https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0FHHXRT5V/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A38PM0R24KMW8P&psc=1 I prefer the rails here as they are stainless https://www.wovar.co.uk/flex-fence-rotatable-blinds-stainless-steel-165cm/ So just need to find Z slats in cedar preferably

Got it back in, working fine but still a very noticeable smell I usually burn softwood logs, very dry. Would hardwood make a difference to the smell, doubt it myself

Yes, i must get a closure plate. Its optional though i think

Our stove has been in the house 10 years. Decent stove, charnwood country 6. Athough its always had a smell from it which has been quite fustrating. We only burn in it even though its multi fuel, should i remlve the grate? The fire cement is all broken so ive pulled it out to clean and going to refit it with fresh cement. Just want to check that this setup is correct. The flue goes inside the stove collar and then theres another cone shaped adaptor that fits inside the flue then straight into the chimney void

So pizza oven is piped wrong?
-
Does anyone know what direction the flue pipe should be. Our charwood country 6 just has a 1m flue pipe from stove collar to a cone shaped adaptor in the chimney. The flue sits inside the collar with fire cement around it There always has been a slight smell of smoke in the room We had a pizza oven installed recently and the fitter has the flue pipe around the outside of the collar. Perhaps this is how the charnwood stove should be. Im thinking if the flue is on the outside then there is no need for fire cement and less chance of smoke escaping

Do you anyone else in Northern Ireland who can supply it, preferably precut.
-
Maybe i will call up and check it out. Our roof is 3mm EZ glaze and its flimsy, although it is 4.4m long 3mm is going to be considerably cheaper so i dont want to get any thicker than i need to Should i be getting exact measurements or subtracting 5-10mm

I have built a pergola will be closing in the sides with some perspex. Most pieces will be around 0.9mx0.3m. Have two large windows to do at 2mx1m Is 5mm perspex going to be ok. I could get thicker or i could get polycarbonate but i think perspex will be strong enough and stay clearer for longer

Is it possible to use wood fillrr and still get a good finish with the oil/stain. Couple of cuts im not entirely happy with

I was looking at textrol oil by owatrol and they have actually advised aquadecks as a better product for the pergola. So ill get a sample pot of movingui ordered and see what its like https://www.owatroldirect.co.uk/product/aquadecks/?attribute_pa_size=1-litre&attribute_pa_colour=movingui&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22020849347&gbraid=0AAAAADd9DWeULnD-UJvFDRlc4E8caicZ2&gclid=CjwKCAjw_fnFBhB0EiwAH_MfZmXAKLz4AqAO2iNBxuU0QZIWQkbsx9qKEKWupcKIA0F9A6nE2N3tzhoCN8YQAvD_BwE

Hey all, we are currently getting a pergola put up. More of an outdoor room as will be completely closed in on completion, still a bit to go. The timber framing is all but finished, bit rough but hope to get it sanded, some poor cuts need filled and my question is what is the best treatment to use for it. I dont want to paint it. Im looking for more natural oak look or cedar Is there an wood oil that can achieve this and having stained wood before it always ends up peeling and a nightmare to redo. Stained a picnic table years ago and wouldn't stop peeling
