Hi Markc Thanks for your reply Thats exactly what im concerned about. The peice of concrete slab was bonded to the bottom of the lintel, but only extends the length of the door frame itself. It doesnt sit on either side of the wall like the lintel above. Im wondering if I should undo this and board and plaster board instead because of the load bearin on the lintel above and the door frame itself. Thank you

Hi Mr Punter Thank you for your reply. Just to confirm the piece of concrete that filled the spaceabove the door frame is not sitting on the wall on either side of the door frame the same as the lintel would be. It only extends the length of the door frame and is bonded to the lintel. Will this extra weight on the lintel affect the load bearing effectiveness of the lintel. My apologies for any confusion. Hi there I'm having a structural issue at the moment with a doorway in my new extension; From the image attached you can see that i had a large gap above the door frame. The gap was filled in with a concrete slab bonded to the bottom of the lintel . However I dont think this is structurally sound as im assuming that there is extra weight on the lintel which may be causing an uneven distribution of weight bearing of the wall above. I suspect that the gap may just have needed to be covered by timber and plaster board. I'd appreciate any advice so I can correct now, what could potentially cause structural damage over time.
