  1. The whole point of the design was to have a large unbroken pane of glass to show off the view. The point I am trying to make 1 the room is a bedroom in a bungalow. This is stated on the plans. 2 All bedrooms must have an egress windown with minimum clear opening widths to meet Building Regs. 3 The depth the side panel was never given on the plans and now we have a big problem. 4 Is it a reasonable expectation that the depth of the side window should have been written on the plans? Again I stress it was designed as a bedroom and this window was for egress.
  2. The depth of the side opening window. The only dimensions on the plans were the width and height.
  3. Absolutely. My query is whether it ought to have been there in the first place. I assumed it should have been especially given it was to be the egress window in a bedroom. He is stating no.
  4. Our plans had no depth specified for an oriel window. We assumed it was to the given scale. The width and height were specified. Now we realise it is too small for building regs to be used as an egress window. Would this be the norm?? That this detail was omitted especially given that the room was intended to be a bedroom and therefore the clear window opening is set out in Building Regs? Thanks in advance. .
  5. I am hoping for some advice please. We had the soffit removed to run the EWI to the top of the wall to eliminate cold briding issues. We noticed no extra insulation had been put in on top of the block wall to tie in with the attic insulation. Rockwool was put in on top of the wall. His quote included the instalation of vents..he was waiting on clarification from our engineer as to number and location. Now the installer says he will not install vents unless we pay alot more money As he he had planned on installing soffit vents and cannot do that now because of the rockwool. My thinking is that he never planned on putting in insulation along the top of the wall to tie into the attic insulation. If we hadn't spotted it we would have been left with cold bridging the whole way around and completely defeated the point of running the EWI up beyond the soffit. Our option now is tile vents and he has quoted thousands to put 8 in !!! How do we respond to this???
