  1. I can’t send you a photo as I’m not up my sons today. my question is I guess the fascia boards have to fit flush with the top of the osb boards then add rubber. So I put Furrings on then osb then for fascia’s. Please confirm. Thanks for replying
  2. Hi marshian im just a simple fellow looking for advice. Im not a builder just a diy enthusiast with time on my hands since I finished work. I didn’t expect sarcastic comments from some contributors. Yes my posts seem confusing as I’m thinking about all the tasks that need to be done. I’m not a builder but I’m planning each stage carefully to get it right and was just reaching out for help and advice. I’ve posted again tonight with question about when to fit fascia’s for epdm roof - I’m hoping for a better experience this time.
  3. I’m relatively new to this site. im a diy enthusiast and recently retired. now i have a bit more time on my hands im building a garden room for my son. Blockwork completed and wall plate and joists in place. I will be adding Furrings to top of joists with thick side at 35mm and thin edge 3mm. I intend fitting osb boards and then epdm rubber roof. My question is about fitting the fascia boards. My intention is to fit them after fitting the osb boards and for fascia flush with top of boards before adding rubber. Is this the correct way to fix the fascia boards. Thanks in advance
  4. Very helpful 😡
  5. Span for joists is 3m including overhang of 300mm. I intend fixing furrings on top of joists to provide the slope. i understand that the thin edge of the furring should be fixed 5-10mm above joist to prevent ponding. Is this correct? Should I fit fascia’s before osb boards or after them and should fascia boards butt up level against top of osb or butt up below osb boards. Intend fitting an epdm rubber roof. Thanks Keith
  6. Hi I’m building a garden room for my son and nearly finished block work. wall plate will be levelled with mortar. I was going to use wall straps screwed into wall plate and fixed down wall. Will this be sufficient?
  7. Hi I’m building a garden room for my son : 5m x 3m with blocks. height will be within permitted developments and will be putting a flat roof and then fibreglassed. question is with regards to wall plate. What thickness is required and are straps enough to fix in place? Thanks
  8. Hi I’m building a block garden room for my son. Never done anything like this before but I have thoroughly researched. Footings completed and 3 courses of engineering bricks completed, 1 below ground level. Hardcore , sharp sand , DPM , rigid board and 100mm concrete to be completed next week.. will then roll out dpc and start blocking. the room measures 5m x 3m and I want to get blocks perfectly level. Would prefer to use a line laser for accuracy and I would buy one. Don’t want to pay for a rotary laser that I wouldn’t probably use again. Would a line laser provide the horizontal line I could lay blocks to , just like a string line. What are the alternatives on getting courses perfectly level. Thanks for your help
