Good afternoon,
Interested to hear of anyone's experience on building a timber frame against a retaining wall, rather than additional cavity blockwork.
We will have around 6 foot of retaining wall that we plan to build against on the ground floor, the first floor will be clear and above the retained ground. Standard block and beam will be at ground floor level and our preference would be to have timber frame at both ground and first floor levels.
We would have the standard 50mm cavity between, along with the necessary structural and waterproofing detailing on the retaining wall, but is there anything else we should consider.
Aware we may need to build ties into the retaining wall to allow the timber frame to be tied in.
Thanks
JB!
