Im looking to rebuild my driveway wall, which is currently under 1m. Want to build a 1.5m high wall.
The new wall will be 1m main wall with pillars on top, another half meter pillar.
I have been told i will need planning permission since its next to the highway. I will need to find an architect for measurements and plans.
I have driven past 20+ houses in my area (not my street) with a similar height wall (definitely over 1m) and i cannot see a single planning application. I questioned the council on this matter (did not give any addresses i am not a grass 😅) they told me there are several factors which they might not have needed permission.
But most of them are in an even more public/busy location than mine, so it does not make sense. Are any of the complaints made by local residents not strong enough for council to take action on?
Would it be possible to build, then apply for retrospective permission later if any problems occur? What could be a reson for application to be refused and wall to be demolished?
It does not impact any of my neighbours. The look of the wall will tie in with surrounding brick/colours etc.
Thanks in advance, any advice much appreciated.
