  1. Any advice or opinions gratefully received
  2. I'm still looking (and planning) this job, but haven't got any further with what to do. Any suggestions now the sun is out?
  3. "where the (expletive deleted) is the battery hidden in my GLS63". Dr Google usually has the answers. As well as many opinions on why you should not need to change it, or the battery on their car is in a totally different place cos it's a different car 😆
  4. "*other cars" 😄 blimey the LC should be enough for anyone! Definite bucket list car for me. Closest I've been to one was a track day bitd at Goodwood when two came past me at about 135.
  5. But it has a bit of a troubled history Nice car! Although that does look like quite a project, I hope it's progressed a bit since that last photo! Mine took long enough, 10+ years in between life etc 🙄. And I started with quite a good car! It does go quite well. Same weight as std 1256, but with 200bhp 😎

  7. I've almost finished a Vauxhall Chevette group 4 clone, and will be doing track days and some competition with it. It's also going to be my space for some work jobs - bodyshell repairs and rally car prep.
  8. Hi, thanks for the welcome. I've posted a couple of questions in different areas, so just sitting back and waiting for the gold!
  9. I have an existing concrete slab of approx 6x3m and I want extend it on three sides to 9x5m. I'm not sure on thickness as I haven't dug down all around it yet. I want to build a concrete panel garage on it and each 600mm wide panel weighs about 80kg. Roof will be minimal trusses and insulated roof panels, so relatively lightweight. Is the best way to extend it as follows: dig down to solid ground, add layer of compacted hardcore, layer of mot, rebar fixed horizontally into slab and tied to mesh, then layer of new concrete poured up to existing floor level. Could anyone suggest companies who have done this type of job, or ballpark figure for doing it. I'm in Hertfordshire, site access is ok although a concrete mixer truck would have to temporarily block the residential road while delivering/ pumping 12m to the area. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hello all. I'm planning a garage upgrade this year and could do with some pointers as I'd like to do a lot of it myself if possible including working out the costs in advance where posible. My existing garage is on a 6x3m slab and I have the space to extend it by 3m or more into my garden and out to 5m wide to the property boundary. For budget reasons, I only want to add to it, not remove and replace it. I have already bought nearly enough concrete pebble dash panels and want to set them on a single course of blocks to give a decent headroom. First question is how do I calculate the correct block to take weight? The blocks I'm looking at have a load rating of either 3.6N/mm2 or 7.3N/mm2. Is it just the actual weight of the walls and the roof plus a bit for safety or something more? Secondly, I have what I can only describe as a brick chimney in the garden which could limit how long the garage can be. It's about 1.8m deep and has an in and out pipe that only ever seems to flow a small amount of water, fortunately not under where I'm planning to build. The manhole cover and surrounding area of about 4x5m is about ½m above the garage floor level. My local water company don't have it on their plans, even though the house was built in the 1960s. Any advice on how close I can put my new slab to it without any issues? Thanks in advance.
  11. Evening all. I've joined the site to pick your collective brains on upgrading my garage. The gist is I'm starting with a large single base and want to extend it on three sides and assemble the concrete panels I've already bought, add a roof and upgrade the electrics for some home car tinkering. Ttfn Chris
