  1. Hi all, I dug a trench around the back of my house as I was recommended it by a damp specialise as the pavement water was splashing above the DPC. I have done this now and the foundations are exposed causing leaks through the ground concrete floor. I was planning to fill with gravel (as advised) but my worry is that the water will then still sit on top of the foundation and wall. i have considered a perforated pipe and connecting it to the drain but the drain is cast iron and there is an old dead gas pipe in the way, which I did not expect to see so high up. Can anyone guide me to a solution here? Appreciate any help in my dilemma Thank you
  2. Hi all, renovating a home and stuck on one thing (that’s a lie many) but this question does my nut in. I need to install 100mm of insulation with a 50mm air gap in a vaulted ceiling in on a curved bedroom ceiling, the wood rafters measures only 70mm. I am looking to install extra timber to extend the rafters but it’s making my room smaller. Seems strange to do this but that’s the recommendation from BC. how do I ensure there’s a 50mm air gap? I’m worried for future condensation as I have black felt in the roof. Appreciwte any guidance thank you
