  1. The plan is indeed to make an opening that has the same profile which is why I wanted to understand the structure and see how feasible/costly it would be.
  2. I'm considering buying a property with the back garden on the side. I'm trying to understand as to whether I can replace the small window with an arched patio door to maximise day light and the view of the garden. The chimney stack on the left is a real one but the one on the right is fake. There's actually a cabinet that's build on the inside. Also the outer wall of the upstairs bedroom aligns with the brick wall. I saw another property with the same plan and it has a window opening on the fake side. The property was built in 1999 and I'm trying to understand (1) the structure of the cavity wall (is it a multi layer cavity wall? is the arched stone functional or just cosmetic?) and (2) whether it's required to have a lintel / steel installed to enlarge the opening. I understand that a site visit is required to tell for sure but I'd appreciate if I could get an opinion on this. Thanks!
