  1. Looking at the pics nod posted above, any building with a decent roof & secured windows doors is fair game to them. I read where C'Tax can only be back dated 6 years?
  2. When do they become dwellings though?, it would seem that the council consider four walls & a roof fair game!
  3. Ive now had a letter from the council saying they want council tax from when I purchased the property, that was in 1993 ! I think they have it in for me......Ive read that there is a time limit on these matters?
  4. I live next door & pay CT for that property, I had to put the build on hold as I became a full time carer for my parent, you get £80 a week for that. It was 2 years with no real income, Im now on my arse money wise. This situation will be devastating, do these people have no empathy? Could my wife stay in our house & I move into the new build? single occupier apply?
  5. Having put a new roof, floors etc into the conversion, the council want to inspect it for charging council tax, I have no water to the building, no kitchen or bathroom. But I read that what Ive done so far means they can charge me CT, ! EEK! Is that likely? thank you.
  6. I had a long winded solicitors bundle of documents making spurious claims against me, the final page stating that if I dont make a payment to them for £2k they will take me to court. I did not respond & have heard nothing more. That was some months ago.
  7. Looks like I'll have to sell my small plot of land which I have PP for a two bed house. I've spent quite some time drawing my own plans, digging down & other stuff, is there any way of claiming CGT relief for work Ive done? ( sure I'll submit receipts for materials) But what about the many hours I've put in? Thank you
  8. On the hillside, we have houses going up the hill, some are detached others not, at the rear they have strip gardens, these gardens are leveled out with retaining walls, yes 8 homes & 7 retaining walls.
  9. Does anyone know if this charge only applies to homes or does it also apply to plots of land? thank you
  10. Im at the bottom of the hill,,I have no retaining wall, the house at the top has one retaining wall holding their land level.
  11. The wall is very old, well over 100 years. The property's where built going up a hill, & the gardens terraced with retaining walls. The gardens & their retaining walls all built at the same time, .
  12. The fence on top is at the very edge of the wall ( the wall face is the boundary line) The wall is very old. What about the roots on his side pushing the wall out, surely its down to them?
  13. Well i had the site inspection, no pics taken all rather a casual affair. The only thing he said was that the retaining wall is my responsibility. But Ive always thought that unless it states in the land deeds, the land that the wall is holding back is the responsibility of that lands owner?
  14. Iv'e already suggested that they need to dig out & rebuild it, they wont touch it.
  15. The wall is about 1.3m high, its dry stone & very old I doubt any foundations to speak of. Its sound apart from where the bushes & small tree are growing.
  16. A witness to the inspection? I was going to record it.
  17. Thanks for that, I've found the S'E' web site its states, ICIOB MEWI Qualifications Associate Member Architecture and Surveying Institute 2003 Incorporated Member Chartered Institute of Building 2013 Member of Expert Witness Institute
  18. Thank you for the replies, I invited them round to see how their bushes roots are pushing their wall down, they stated that they expect me to repair their wall, only because Im doing work on my land. I've dug down about 4 feet, this is about 10 feet away from their retaining wall. There is no ground movement between, I have nothing illegal going on,I just don't want pics taken of my land & property. They have been saying the most dreadful things about my family, god only know why. It's to a point that its impossible to forgive & its clear what dreadful people they are. They have never engaged with me to sought out any issues, just by their solicitors writing to me, so far I'm responding as its all rather pathetic & easy to bat off, in whats being said.
  19. Ive had solicitors letters threatening to get a court order to allow them onto my land to inspect their wall & fence. Bushes planted a long time ago, in their garden as close as possible to their retaining wall has caused their wall to bulge, they are trying to blame me for it. Where I've dug out its at least 10 feet away. I have pics of their wall before I did anything, its exactly the same now as before. It's quite clear cut, but I'm very wary of the situation. Thanks
  20. I have agreed to allow structural engineer on to my land to inspect next doors retaining wall. Should I allow him to take pics of my land?, I feel fine about him taking pics of the retaining wall but feel uncomfortable about pics of my land. I have done some digging out , but no where near their retaining wall. The people next door are very dis agreeable & things could not get any worse between us. thanks
