The plan is to have loft room with rear domer&attached bathroom. However need advise on loft room location with possible location in attached snapshot Rear_view_with_two_Possible_Locations_of_LoftRoom. attached pictures gives good idea of loft room location 1 or location 2 from inside and outside along with comments in the snapshots Need advise on the below : 1. Structural changes such as steel beam in loft floor or in domer to ensure stability. 2. Advise of how to manage the party wall if we have to slot steel beam in the wall along the neighbours side. 3. Ensure all the details are discussed with builder with regards to the plan and material type etc which will be used so we don't incur additional cost due to constant changes. 4. Advise of strair location and planning for it.

Building inspector is asking to keep the garage door and do the conversion behind it. Any suggested how to ensure it looks good, I am alright to have some storage space however would like the space behind the garage door and and actual conversion wall to be fully insulated and tiles so it has good ambiance. Also we should think of ventilation from front. Altough plan is to put a extractor fan in the front.

We are doing a garage conversion and planning to replace the Garage door with an attached French door(also attached is the front elevation of our house with the existing garage door in black). Now the current challenge is after raising the floor, we are left with 2050 mm height, and if we allocate 75mm to the French door frame on top and the remaining 55mm at the bottom for the Sill, we are left with 1920 clear space for the French Door, but standard clearance is 2000 mm. Can we talk to Building Control for any exceptions my Building Control inspector advised me to jack the lintel above the garage door and remove some bricks, which I have explained I am not very comfortable with as it carries bricks and the roof at the top& its old structure. What is the minimum height acceptable? If we have to meet a minimum height of 2000 mm any suggestions? Can we not keep the floor a little bit lower where the door is opened or closed to meet the building regulations or can we ask for an exception as we don't want to jack the lintel and risk any structural integrity of the building Also, can we do something about U-value, as the Building inspector warned me about draft from a wide French Door?

Unfortunately, they have covered the copper pipe in soil; however, they haven't done any subflooring, etc. What is the best approach right now? I am thinking of requesting at least one option from the Builder. can you please suggest which one is best 1. Ensure that I am aware of the water mains pipeline path and make sure there is easy access when needed. 2. Request the builder or hire external plumber to replace copper pipes with MPDE pipe and cover it in duct.

@ETC Could you please explain this line "you’ll need restraint to the front wall and bearing for the lintels" with possible examples and pictures? I understood the bearing bit, which means we need a suitable lintel on top of the Door to bear the load from top (wall and roof load) Please explain me front wall needs to be restrained and some reference reading Also I have spoken to builder he says since not much space in the corrider however we can open the door in garage space on other side. -

Attached are the pictures 1. Yes, plan is to keep the study it has access from kitchen also. 2. We can access house already from this space. You can see in attached picture (Plan is to open another door into this space(picture attached) 3. Plan is to install french doors with small outlets and trickle ventilation which will solve ventilation problem. 4. Plan is to keep it as storage space and do the french doors with small outlets in front instead of garage door. and add a side door from main door to keep shoes and coats Moment we plan for raising floor it becomes living space and we have insulate walls and floor etc -
Hi All, I may have roof like this with one of slope along the neighbour. Since there is no gutter he may complain as he says his place floods during rain. Is it ok to have gutters on both sides of slope. Mine is single storey,Will the foundation gets affected if he doesn't have gutters on both sides Mubbashshir

Hi there, We found this copper pipe when we were digging foundations and near by there is SW(Surface water) black metal lids we normally see on road. Most probably it's water supply line for my house. Any house if it's advisable to keep it under the foundation by casing it or putting a slab over it. Just thinking how do they normally fix these types of pipes hidden under foundation or floors
