  1. reignighting this, primarily out of curiosity. My architect has suggested 100mm fullfil kingspan, and my brickie has quoted accordingly, and his quote seems higher than I would have expected (i am awaiting further quotes). 92sqm (including below dpc) 4 weeks of work brick and block for an extension wrapping around 3 sides of the house 14k (no VAT) all ground floor but scaffolding will be needed. Based on previous messages is the full fill hard interlocking PIR insulation a huge PITA hence the high quote and would 100mm rockwool be preferred (certainly would be cheaper). Or is it not that simple, considering the extension will need to meet certain thermal insulation criteria (i havent scoured building codes just yet).
  2. Thank you for the support, they way I see it is a long list of problems that all can be solved 1 way or another, i have given myself 1 year to prep, with foundations going in after 6 months (to save stress of cutting it fine with planning) then work commencing spring time 2025.
  3. Thanks Mark, i have been scouring here for a few weeks and found some useful tips, so thought I might as well join, might even be able to help out others who are in the same situation.
  4. Thought I should join this site as I am undertaking my first extension self build. After receiving extortinate quotes from builders I have decided to try it out myself, gulp. The project is a ground floor rear and side extension 65sqm and a first floor extension over the side 20sqm. Wish me luck.
