  1. Hi All, I am trying to future proof my new installation, and supply a unvented mains pressure hot water cylinder with gravity stored water approx 1.0m head if fitted in one location 2.5m if in a different location my water mains pressure is not great currently. I am build an extension with three bedrooms and shower rooms, it’s possible all three showers will be used at once . so last resort is to fit a gravity hot water system and use individual silent running wall mounted triton shower pumps in each bathroom. I am considering upgrading my cold water mains supply but I will have no idea if the new supply will run 3 showers at once . Hence trying to find out if using an unvented hot water cylinder with a gravity supply that I may change over to mains supply in the future is posdible. I know I will have to change the wall pumped showers to shower valve if I go mains pressure . i am think of fitting a 300lt cylinder . hope this makes sense c thanks Jeff

  3. Hi all just Checking how far back from the external wall Upvc windows should be fitted. 300mm wall construction, 100mm outer block will have 10/15 Mm render applied once windows are fitted, 100mm cavity 100mm internal block work. The windows are a 70mm profile. Any recommendations? I have had a look on line but I’ve not been able to find any info. thanks jeff
  4. Thanks for the replies , has anyone got an EDPM roof that’s over 10years old ?
  5. Hi what would recommend, I have a 8.6x6.3 flat roof fall 6.3m direction. Having spoken to various installers and suppliers most professionals are recommending Torch on felt as the best product. They say EDPM can become unstuck delaminate wrinkle etc due to expansion and contraction it’s more of a diy product? Does anyone have any experience of these problems with EDPM . I was considering the Thicker Firestone product . any thoughts or experiences much appreciated. thanks Jeff
  6. Hi thanks for the replies , pretty much what I thought would have be done ,
  7. hi all I am new to underfloor heating I have a problem detailed below. I have a single floor extension adjoining a 2 floor extension so the partion wall is a cavity wall. I have block and beam floor, which will have DPM insulation the two areas have no door way. The manifold will be under the stairs in the 2 floor extension. My question is how do I run my underfloor heating pipes under the damp proof course in the cavity wall block work. The pipe work will have to pass through the individual room floor damp proof membrane up stands lapped under the extended DPM that protrudes out of the block work against the walls ? How do I keep the integrity of the damp proofing ? Hope this makes sense . Thanks Jeff
  8. Hi all , I have an area that will be a patio that requires the levels raising , my question is, is it ok to use the waste off cuts from the light weight internal wall locks like a thermalite block ? Will these off cuts degrade in time and crumble to nothing ? I have approx 8m x 3 m to built up by 300mm . I will also use my old roof tiles and any of the concrete block off cuts etc then crushed concrete over the top. I will probably only be able to use a walker plate to compact the area. Any ideas any one? Thanks Jeff

  11. Hi all thanks for your replies , I have ended up with a Dewalt DCN692N used it today , with 90 and 75mm it is heavy but just about useable, I probably build up the required muscle to use it above head with a bit of luck, but to much to nail above head height so should be fine. Thanks again .
