Marcset

Hi everybody, I had a log burner installed yesterday and was somewhat surprised buy the way they finished off the cowl on top of the liner in the chimney pot. I thought that had to be clamped around the top of the pot. But here they,ve just used sand and cement to fill in the gap. Anyone else seen this before and is it standard practice? I asked him why I didn’t get a bird guard and he said that would cost more !! This was once the ladders were back on the van and they were rushing to the next job. He said he’d had a look about and didn’t see and small birds around, hahahah lol. Just doesn’t look right to me. Anyway it is lovely and warm in here now.
