Pressure creeping up on Vaillant ecotec plus boiler

I tried to remove the filling loop at the CH flow end as suggested but water came out under pressure. How to I find out which bit is leaking: filling loop CH flow valve cold water mains in valve -
Pressure creeping up on Vaillant ecotec plus boiler
dscoll replied to dscoll's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
I see, thanks. It's an internal filling loop, can I just unscrew it with the boiler on? -
Hi The pressure on my vaillant ecotec plus boiler is creeping up by about 0.2 bar a day with the system OFF. I removed the grey handles on the filling loop and tightened both valves with a screwdriver, but the problem remains. Both valves have to be open on the filling loop to repressurise the system, so does this mean that both valves must be, leaking , which seems unlikely, or is it possible just one valve is faulty and if so, how do I find out which one it is? Or is there any other possibility? Any help appreciated.

intermittent F75 on vaillant ecotec 831
dscoll replied to dscoll's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
Update - I changed the EV and it's working fine now. No water out the overflow pipe, ON pressure = 2.2 bar -
intermittent F75 on vaillant ecotec 831
dscoll replied to dscoll's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
Ok, thanks , i'll keep an eye on the PRV but my guess is it's ok because the pressure when the system is on is 3 bar, which is the level that the PRV kicks in at. -
intermittent F75 on vaillant ecotec 831
dscoll replied to dscoll's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
Thanks for that. The blog suggested there could be an issue with the expansion vessel, so I checked it and it was full of water ie when I pressed the schrader valve water spurted out. Also, when the boiler runs the pressure goes up to 3 and because of this water has been coming out of the overflow pipe These 3 points (the internet tells me) suggest a punctured expansion chamber, so i'm going to replace the EV. -

thats what i thought but it doesn't sound very likely. i posted the question here to see if anyone else had seen this behaviour -
intermittent F75 on vaillant ecotec 831
dscoll replied to dscoll's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
The pressure sensor reads correctly and I can hear the pump working, that's why i'm confused. It appears not to be a normal F75 problem. Also the rads get hot which confirms the pump is ok. -
Hi So im getting an intermittent (once a day ish) F75 on my 2014 ish vaillant ecotec 831. Heating is on, all fine, for minutes -> hours then F75 appears and heating goes off. When I turn the boiler switch off and back on it goes away, HW and heating ok, then it comes back. Checked the electronic pressure sensor, it was always 3.8, so I changed it. New sensor works fine but intermittent F75 still present. Then I noticed the off the pressure was creeping up by about 1.5 bar a day, so I removed the handles from the inlet valves and tightened the valve with a screwdriver, problem solved, pressure stable at 1.6. But intermittent F75 remains. So im stuck any suggestions appreciated.

Excellent idea. It's a bit difficult though to see what type of tree it is to get a proper replica, since its only a stump. maybe i'll just plant an oak.
-
lol. Im sort of seeing it as a challenge now, man vs stump. Im 1-0 down at the moment.
-
Not 2 years though. There are other smaller branches that have been embedded in the fence for 10+ years and they still haven't fell off. Also the stump it quite heavy so it will be pulling on the fence
-
That was my first thought but there are other people involved and they want it out
-
I'm going to get a bigger blade for the reciprocating saw and try that. If it doesn't work this is the fallback solution, though I don't think its 60 secs with my wire cutters. pcv coated chainlink is pretty tough, so I may need boltcutters as @saveasteading suggests
-
Well that didn't work, good exercise though.
-
I haven't tried that as its wet wood, but i'll give it a couple of whacks this morning
-
You've got loads of nice beaches though, our nearest is Southend, which doesn't count. Nearest decent beach Sandbanks!
-
I don't want to burn the fence
-
The picture isn't very good but the stump is already detached from the ground but still attached to the fence. I've tried a bow saw, but it was no good.
-
I'm in London, you don't get much for £50. Fair point about the hedgehogs though.
-
I've always fancied a ride in a helicopter and i've got a circular saw but unfortunately I don't have an angle grinder
-
Yeah I did think about that, but the saw is battery powered and the 4" blade was struggling so I think a bigger blade would be worse, but there only £15 so it may be worth a go.
-
The wood is 18" and the blade of the saw was only 4" so it failed badly.

I presume you mean something like this vid. His first (bodge) suggestion is obviously doable , and he makes the "proper" fix look easy enough, but im not sure its as easy as he suggests. Anyway im thinking about it, I may give it a go if there is nothing simpler.
