  1. Thank you so much for your advice. I have looked at properties that are on the less costly side, with the plan as a minimum of ripping out the kitchen/ bathrooms, and redoing them. If at all possible I would like solar, otherwise just a battery system. However - and I don't mean this in any form of snobbish way - the houses in the area still look cheap. It is a but like if I went and got a 2 bed prefab house on land near where all the Chelsea footballers live and train!
  2. Hi, I would have to do far more research - I am just fed up of seeing the same near identical looking properties going up. Well I am single so looking at 3 bed properties, the price for them newly built or refurbished seems to be in the region of 600k - 750k, I could ring the bank of family and ask for another 50-100k as a last resort.
  3. Hi brilliant idea, should I be looking at auction for these properties? I should probably clarify, I would like to project manage, - as opposed to doing the work myself.
  4. Hi all, I am considering buying either land OR a property, which is in complete need of an overall, rip out and start all again. My main reason for doing it this way, is that I can be in control of the quality. I don't think I actually have the balls to get it all done myself. Before I consider it is viable, I am having trouble even finding properties! I am currently living in South London, but am considering anywhere up to, and around 10-15 miles further out from Guildford, and Godalming. So I need a site in Surrey, or Hampshire ideally. Or properties, that also need a significant amount of work doing to it.
  5. Hi, I have bought a 4 bedroom house, in Surrey, on the border with London. The house is a 2021, and I am considering getting a heat pump. Anyway I am considering a heat pump as I have 4 bedrooms. However I want a Daikin and not the cosy system. Do Octopus still install Daikin, or do they only install the horrible looking imho, Cosy pumps? Has anyone decided to just go for air to air heat pumps instead? Thanks
  6. HI guys, I have had many opinions regarding suspended floor insulation, as floor is absolutely freezing. I have had two chains of thought, - some have said I need these fancy and expensive products. Pls see link below: 1) Diagram 8, shows the layout, with further diagrams showing the system in much greater dealer. There are also two videos there. This would cost be several thousand pounds to undertake, https://www.ecologicalbuildingsystems.com/post/best-practice-approach-insulating-suspended-timber-floors?srsltid=AfmBOoo_yGx1VeqhQuO_LLhq6hRBLrEelw5Tze1IiF-jV8P_ZWWzolEG 2) The second option is below. But in short, it is just fitting,, a breathable membrane, and then installing the insulation. Would Rhino Vent, ultra breathable work, or would I require, a different brand ? Thank you in advance. Video below is way 2 of doing it. All advice in advance appreciated! Thanks
  7. The JA are cheaper, but I think Hyundai is superior - longer warranty etc. Also someone said in Winter they generate more power than others.
  8. Hi, Im looking at two options for solar panels either JA Solar panels or Hyundai ones. I would get 5kw from the JA panels and 4.5kw from the Hyundai. What do people recommend I get ? it is worth noting that the Hyundai panels come with a 25 year warranty, vs only 12 years, with the JA Panels. But due to the size, the hundai panels don’t allow a 5kw array. Thanks Daniel
