Hello and good afternoon from Wigan,
I ripped my gas fire out last week, i got it properly capped of by a gas engineer on Monday..
I was left with a big hole in the wall, with a massive draft coming down the chimney. I was looking at stuffing some rockwool insulation up the chimney, of which i was going to ask.
After reading various furoms etc, i decided against it as it may cause damp. I bricked it up this afternoon.
Its a 1970s house with a wooden floor an airvents coming underneath.
I will be getting it plastered and fitting an electrical fire just for aesthetics.
Have i done the right thing here?
Thanks Oppy
