Charlie Barns

Morning all, On our barn conversion we’re now looking at Velux roof windows and it appears there’s a vast array of options and features to consider. We need them in a single storey extension, where there will also be bi-folds and windows. In this bit we will be having oak roof trusses so I wonder if that flags anything for consideration. We also need them in the top floor bedroom which has no windows and just roof lights in the vaulted ceilings. In terms of sizings and selection, is it the classic budget vs quality/size that I need to consider? (And of course planning to keep within!) Would anyone like to share their tips and advice when selecting Velux windows please? I like the options where they have motorised opening but the ££££ quickly seems to go up! Thanks everyone. It's just outside of Truro so fairly central. Where about in North Cornwall are you? Any particular posts or topics you would recommend I read first. I'm more concerned we haven't made all the key decisions for the builder.

Hi. We're just about to start on a Barn Conversion in Cornwall of previously agricultural stone barns. It's taken a long time to get to this point with planning, building regs, mortgages etc but the ground workers have just started and now very conscious of all the decisions that need to be made. The forum has been really helpful so far with finance and other matters so I think it's going to be really valuable to read experiences from others. Thanks in advance!
