We bought a semi-detached in East Oxford that needed a lot of work... so much work that it has turned into a rebuild! Only the front wall, party wall, and part of the side wall are being retained. Aiming to turn it into an open plan, passive house, plenty of light, ASHP, MVHR, underfloor heating and solar. Having to learn a lot about materials, insulation, damp, building regs etc. Steep learning curve!
