Hi @Chanmenie, is your concrete 100mm too? Did you staple to insulation or use clip tracks?

Hi All, About to start our insulated raft foundation in the next 2 weeks. I have an urgent decision to make that I'd appreciate your input. We have 100mm of concrete above the EPS. The original plan was to use clip plates to attach the UFH pipe in, then use 50mm spacers and put the mesh. UFH company have advised that the pipes being 100mm below FFL is too low, and they would recommend putting the mesh in place (50mm spacers) then tie the UFH pipes above the mesh, meaning that there would be 25mm cover to the top of the pipe. What's your thoughts? Screed above isn't an option. Many Thanks

Cheers @Nickfromwales I've just measured out the en-suite and we're looking at having a 1400x800mm shower tray. I'm looking at something like this - Not looking to go flush, but just low profile. https://www.plumbworld.co.uk/hydrolux-low-profile-rectangular-shower-tray-1400-x-800mm-with-waste-19421-1270350 Thanks again

Timber frame with stone cladding / render - Window details
HanleeHouse replied to HanleeHouse's topic in Windows & Glazing
Sorry, I missed this reply. I was planning on having a finish looking similar to this below. With a 225mm cill. The STS board has a 100kg/m2 rating. The stone is 45kg/m2. STS and timber frame co have confirmed with their SE. -
Hi all, I'm about to start work on drainage and insulated raft foundation in 2 weeks time. Please could you help with the drainage through the raft foundation? - Is all of the drainage that comes up through the raft 110mm? How far above FFL should they pop up? - Long radius bends with foot at each location? - There are 2 SVP's serving the FF. One serving a Master Bedroom Ensuite and the other Serving 2 en-suites. Do these need to extract through the roof or AAV in the loft? - Downstairs WC, does that need its own AAV? Does this need 2 outlets, one for sink and one for toilet? - Toilet in downstairs en-suite, can that connect to the same run as SVP? - How would you deal with the shower tray in the downstairs en-suite? Any other general advice would be much appreciated too. Cheers! -

HI All, I've just received planning permission for a replacement dwelling. Timber frame build - 140mm frame + 9mm OSB. Windows are triple glazed aluminium, window company has asked for details on position in frame and how the stone / render will return to the openings. We have 120mm PIR insulation in the frame and a further 30mm internally. Aluminium frames are 70mm. Please could you have a look at the attached sketch? Should I continue the 30mm PIR, 25mm service batten, 12.5mm plasterboard round into the window reveal, OR.. would it be better to say use 52.5mm insulated plasterboard internally straight to the timber frame? Appreciate your help. Also, anyone have any tips on software etc to draw these details? Thanks

Hi guys, we’re currently making this out building usable by blocking up the front and new roof. Its single skin blockwork which rain is seeping through the blockwork. It’s only going to be used for storage so want to do it as cost effective as possible, but obviously we want to make sure it’s watertight and damp free. Does anyone have any recommendations to stop rain coming through? Ideally it would have a 2nd skin or battened and cladded. But as 2 sides aren’t visible and it’s only for storage, it seems very expensive to do this as it’s 11m x 5.5m. I’m thinking an external paint - Wethertex AP77 or emperor paint? Would this do the trick? At ground level a liquid DPM? Any advise or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi Guys. Our build is probably going to cost more than we were originally planning, so we are thinking of selling our current home to release all of the equity to put towards the build. We are buying the land outright from savings and was planning on taking a mortgage from Ecology for the build. We're thinking to buy a 3 bed static caravan to put on site. Anyone know the rules and regs for putting such structure on site during the build? Do I need temporary permission, or just go for it. I'm only planning on it being there for 3-4 months. Council tax etc? Then secondly, as we're planning on getting the mortgage, would moving just before applying for a mortgage be an issue? Would they understand the situation? (Planning on speaking them tomorrow for advice) Many Thanks

Thanks for the advice! There is a lot of glazing! Cladding - Standing Seam Zinc for walls and Roof Solar - We absolutely want to maximise the amount of solar that we have. Need to confirm with the architect details. Solar is in the plan but just need confirmation on the details with that. The design document for planning actually states "Solar PV-T" panels with an Earth Energy Bank to conserve energy in the summer months for use in winter. Can't find much information on this tech though. Would be open to adding wind energy too. Green Roof - Ours is a huge area of green roof! Can I ask where you got yours from? Do you recommend? Ours will be Sedum too. I saw your project briefly, I will have a closer look this evening!

Hi All, we're currently in the process of buying a plot of land with planning permission for a large eco style home. (Passive House Standards) I've attached a couple of photos of the proposed house. Looking forward to sharing our journey and getting lots of advice from this forum! We're in Telford, Shropshire. Many Thanks David & Kelly
