  1. Yes, I did look at that, but decided that air-water would be quieter, kick up less dust, and would also mean much cheaper hot water. But thanks for the idea. Yes going to install new rads, hopefully not too large if I insulate well. Thanks. I was hoping to avoid a buffer tank as more space and complexity, but will have to look into that I guess. Dave
  2. Summary 2-bed, well insulated flat. Replacing storage with ASHP so also need to install UVC. Self install with a plumber so trying to keep simple. Can the pros here please recommend me a…. Good quality Monobloc heat pump. Decent UVC and associated kit for a 800 x 900 cupboard, around 180 L. I’m happy to pay for anything to make this a simpler job, for example a pre-plumbed UVC or some kind of kit that includes lots of compatible components. The long read I’m renovating my small 2-bed flat and replacing storage radiators with a heat pump. Unfortunately round here I can’t find a (recommended) installer as they're all too busy, so I’m looking at specifying / buying it myself and installing using a regular G3 plumber. Might even be cheaper that way 🙂 I’m insulating internal walls & roof & putting in good windows, so by my calculations the building will loose around 1.5 - 2 kW in cold weather once this is done. I guess on top of this the heat pump also needs to provide for the hot water. I’ll use a plumber who can install an UVC as they should be familiar with that part. I’ve been looking at slimline UVC’s to fit in a cupboard sized around 800x900 (smaller the better). On the ASHP, I think a monobloc design might be appropriate as then doesn’t need a specialist engineer for the refrigerant, and I don’t have much space inside for plant.
