  1. I'm just coming to the end of finishing the MF ceiling and starting the stud walls straight after I've built plenty of stud walls on my previous place but this will be the first time connecting to a metal frame. Does anyone have any tips or pics on fixing that top timber in place?
  2. Thanks, I'm guessing you meant EWI and Baumit, who would be the 3rd?
  3. Has anyone used BDV Silicone Render for ICF? I'm based in Ireland so options are limited but trying to decide whether I buy in EWI from NI or get this BDV locally
  4. So I have an ICF extension to an old stone cottage. In the old stone cottage I am putting in a standard limecrete floor, however for the ICF part, I am torn as to whether I really need PIR in there. I'm looking at putting in either 50 or 75mm EPS given the insulation of the ICF. I will be using standard rads in the ICF, not UFH btw Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
  5. Just be super careful with stone buildings. They function in a completely different way to standard buildings. For your external walls, do not put stud and PIR in there. One thing to remember with stone buildings is they need to be vapour permeable. If the walls cannot breathe, they will cause damp and mould issues behind. Because stone buildings didnt have proper foundations, damp will get into the walls (especially if internal floors are concrete) Use something like wood fibre insulation instead, it will allow the heat to get to the stone and prevent a mushrooming in the gap When I started taking off that stuff from my place, the first floor started to come down as it had rotted the timbers.
