I am going to clad it in birch ply with 25mm birch ply treads.

what are you doing at the bottom and top, if you don't lift the floor level up 25mm you're first tread is them 25mm higher than the second and you will notice it. the bottle at the top will also need the upperfloor raised to accommodate the 25mm.

This was all calculated when the stairs were ordered.

You give the exact measurements to the stair manufacturer ie the height to the finished floor top & bottom & the depth of the treads & they calculate it.

I got my expert joiner to measure up for me.

It has worked really well.

TK Stairs very helpful.

On the top step the caberdeck has been cut back to allow the tread to be exact to the finished floor covering.

I bought my stairs from Stairbox with solid oak tread, engineered oak strings and veneered oak risers. cost was £1160 compared to £2260 for everything in solid oak from a different manufacturer. I can't tell the difference between the solid/engineered and veneered oak.
