Lesgrandepotato Posted October 21, 2017 Author Share Posted October 21, 2017 The bottom newels are slid onto the tenons and then doweled in - currently unfitted to make the glass fit easier. The heights of the two newels is correct - they vary as the stairs rise up - makes more sense when the handrails are on. The problem is more fundamental than that.. some pillock has decided to start oiling from the bottom up.... starting at the top and going down would be much much easier! 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ProDave Posted October 21, 2017 Share Posted October 21, 2017 I was going to ask how do you insert the glass? Surely you have to insert the glass as you assemble the stairs? The newel posts won't now pull apart to get the glass in, and the slot does not go all the way to the top of the post to allow the glass to simply drop in.
