111cookie111 Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Hi all, After 2 1/2 years 'discussing' with planning, in the final stages of detailing a replacement dwelling in oxfordshire before hopefully breaking ground in next few months. Have a number of questions regarding MVHR, HYbrid heat systems, single/ 3 phase etc. Ill try to return the favour here by answering any questions on tools, my mastermind topic! 3
Kelvin Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Congrats. Well done in getting this far. There is loads of information on the forum about all that so do a search but by all means ask away.

I'm also interested in learning more about all 3 of those so I'll be following with interest if our land purchase goes through. We don't have full planning but thinking about how we would like our house to be designed/work. An exciting time for you, good luck!
JohnMo Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Welcome 2 hours ago, 111cookie111 said: number of questions regarding MVHR, HYbrid heat systems, single/ 3 phase etc. Plenty of users of MVHR on here not so many with hybrid heating. For a new build to install both heat pump and boiler would really be a waste of money. If converting from gas already have a nearly new boiler it may make some sense. Just install heat pump, UFH so you get low flow temps and cylinder with big coil. Set to work as a single zone. Cheap easy and low running cost. Just make sure you don't over size the heat pump to much. If you want more info on hybrid raise a question in the correct section.

The system is installed so it can have the boiler taken away without any effect on the heat pump system. A low cost version if you don't have a plate heat exchanger kicking about, is a simple close couple tee instead of PHE. If you needed to buy a boiler, as small as you could find would do the job. 1
CADjockey Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Hybrid with what? And for what purpose? We thought about it but it made no real sense but it did take a lot of thought to decide what we did want. We were on oil and electric before we demolished, ouch! We are now on full 3P Electric, GSHP, MVHR & Solar with 10kW battery storage.
