I shouldn't think you will need to spend £1500, even for a new one.

But I am not *that* up to date. I assume you are talking airless.

Mine is a Wagner one which comes on a trolley with a 15m hose.

It has happily done more than one house and a 700 sqm gym in an industrial unit, which was of the order of half that price new.

But I am going back 4 or 5 years.

Budget is upto £1500.  Happy to hear recommendations under this price.

With my limited research i assume i want airless, and a long hose is a must.

Did you take to it straight away or find yourself 'learning' how thin to make the paint and how far away/fast to spray it? I ask because I nearly returned a Wagner airless sprayer - but persisted and eventually got the knack. Maybe because I was used to conventional compressor spray paint kit. Anyway, once I got the hang of it then yes, a great bit of kit.

It takes practice for sure. One advantage of a self-build is you have plenty of walls to practice on. 😂 Mine is also a Wagner and highly recommended. I bought mine second hand.

Thankfully a mate who once was a painter gave me a few pointers,  for the mist coat use contract trade emulsion,  get a 10l tub put 5l into another tub and add 1l of water into each and mix well,  top coats worked best with  the same thickness as the mist coat but the amount of water needed varied depending on the paint. Learning how to spray was definitely trial and error 🙃

I would only use a washable emulsion for top coat if I was building again.

Nothing but Zinsser in bathrooms.
