DS18B20 Sensors - Location in Slab

Recommended Posts

The MBC guys are back on Wednesday to pour the slab now it's finally stopped raining here.

I've got one job I'm considering doing which is to put some temp sensors in for later connection/future proofing. I've got some waterproof ones sat here waiting,

I was initially going to attach them to the rebar in the middle of the UFH runs by extending them with cat5 soldered and sealed but am now wondering if that's too deep with the added risk of the joints failing and in fact would be better to retrofit by cutting s small channel in the slab once it's down and then connecting in the service void?

i don't have any means to test the temp sensors before as I have no equipment capable of reading the output. Unless there is a resistance I can measure across the wires? Google turned up nothing though.

Any thoughts?

I just put a couple of lengths of the UFH pipe into the slab with the end capped over with some duct tape - will feed the wire down at some point in the future ..!

you can see it in this picture on the left
