My husband and I have just sold our home in west London and are now beginning our exciting next step - looking for land / derelict property in SE / SW England on which to build our dream home. Actually found more "Plot for sale" signs by driving around than we got from agents. Class Q Permitted Development has made it easier to convert agricultural buildings but they must be "capable of being converted" and in agricultural use for 10 years (eg not currently unused or used to store the owners car). If you find a potential Class Q conversion perhaps make the purchase subject to getting approval or wonder why approval hasn't been obtained already. That's actually a good approach to take when looking at any land.. Why hasn't it been built on already? Why hasn't PP already been obtained?
