Just joined the forum...as a guy in my twenties I put three rooms on top of my first property which was a bungalow...I am nearly seventy five now so slowed down a bit..however I want to pick some brains about structural beams...heres hoping someone has the knowledge....so hello to all forum members.

Beams are fairly easy to understand, it is just the 'odd' units they use, mm4 in the moments of inertia does not sit easily in the mind.

But all it means is that you take the 3D sized, width, depth and length, then measure how much it deflects.
