Car port

Hi everyone,

A new neighbour is thinking of building as car port on his side of a shared drive with me. The structure will start just before the front elevation and extend about 15ft beyond the front of the house. Am I correct in thinking he cannot build beyond the front elevation without explicit planning approval. He has no approval, how can I stop this building

Page 40/41 covers outbuildings and PP is required if..

(c) any part of the building, enclosure, pool or container would be situated on land forward of a wall forming the principal elevation of the original dwellinghouse

If you notify the planning department after he starts they may feel obliged to ask him to apply for planning permission. That may or may not be granted.
