5 second groan from my UFH pump

What is needed is not just a pretty photograph from the internet to show how it should be, but the actual manufacturers instructions to answer beyond doubt if it is assembled correctly or not.

I am trying to find other set ups but all I can find is JG manual stating it can be set up from left or right of manifold! 
but I can’t find if the blending valve works both ways!

any help is more than welcome I’m open to any suggestions

I think it's the same as a grundfoss/reliance thermoguard mixer setup, notes are available, but the return loop to boiler and cold manifold are common with no valves and can be fitted either way.

 

Does the boiler pump stop and just leave the ufh pump going?

 

What do flow meters show for the loops in manifold.

 

Something is being 'dead-headed' and causing chatter.

 

As mentioned by others above a stethoscope approach with a piece off wood or large screwdriver to your ear and suspect parts will help you find what is making the noise, but this may well not be the cause of the problem.

 

I still wonder if you have rads elsewhere if one is open, or if you need a differential bypass valve in the system.

The flow metres show 1.5lpm to 2lpm what I have set them at, and when it’s running the area heats up very well. 

 

not sure about the boiler pump I will have to ask the engineer! 
 

What is the differential bypass?

If the motorised valve switches off (or something else stops circulation in the boiler flow) when the UFH is still calling for heat then I can see how this might cause the problem...

 

With the blender turned down most of the water is recycled round and round the floor loops, little or none is drawn from the boiler flow. 

With the blender turned up less is recycled and more drawn from the boiler flow. If thats blocked so you get noise.

 

It could also explain why it happens when the floor loop cools down (as described in your very first post). As long as the floor loop is hot the blender is recycling. When the floor cools the blender tries to draw more from the boiler. If it blocked you get the noise. 

 

So well worth checking that the motorised valve is open when you hear the noise.

Thanks for this! It’s another thing for the engineer to test!
But he has put his money on it being the blending valve as he has asked a specialist for a second opinion and he came with the same result! 
So new blending valve on Friday and let’s see what happens then!

Just an update!

we have just changed the blending valve and hey presto it works absolutely perfect!! 
 

faulty blending valve was the issue!! 
 

JG will be getting an email tomorrow as the valve is only 6 months old
