Oriel Window

Hi all

 

I'm in the process of a self build and have my windows arriving next week. One of the windows is an Oriel window

 

width = 1505

height = 1645

point 657mm

projection 90 degrees. 

 

Total window weight 120KG

 

I'm after advice as to the best way to construct the base and the top to meet building regs

Timber frame with rigid insulation and OSB sheathing will work fine.  The sides can carry most of the load.

I don't suppose you have any images by any chance?

I don't know how they did it, but 1930s semis often have oriel windows in the bathroom. Anything to learn?

These projected 300mm.  Much more and you may need brackets or other support.

Must be the new hotness. Oriel windows seem to be taking over where crittall left off last year. Like them, they look a nightmare for heat retention!

 

I don't have anything useful to add, except "ask your architect" (I'm assuming you've already tried that), and good luck
