NZ Self Build

On the back of @epsilonGreedy's crane thread. This is the house built by Wayne Scott, a rather clever chap I know in NZ. A prolific "ideas" man. He'll design a desk then a crane. Often accompanied by beautiful charcoal sketches. Steel feature "reeds" are Corten steel about 5 years old:

Wow - he likes tricky detail challenges doesn't he - taking pipes out through the edges of glass and loads more.

He's a bit special alright. It's all about the form. He did some cool MDF / rolled aluminium chequerplate desks a few years ago.

Looks well done, it's kinda strange to have that in the middle then two really simple rectangular boxes either side.

Absolutely incredible view too!

Amazing what some will come up with when you don't have the same restrictive planning departments trying to make everything "in keeping"

Really don't like it...... looks like an abandoned construction site.... like he is building some fancy glass lookout and put his temporary work cabins to close, and then  ran out if money And left the cabins and all the unfinished steelwork .....  sorry to be critical but this really is not my thing.

As I said above, not my cup of tea particularly but you have to admire the level of detail.

What's the regulatory planning environment there?

For me it isn't a response to the context.

Dunno. I know a lot of them buy "forests" as a retirement thing. They manage if as a family during holidays etc. When mature they fell it as their retirement income.

Never knew that.

Long, thin backsides in NZ.

Weird race. They dig seabirds out of holes with pointy sticks. Looks like chicken on the plate and tastes like kippers.

I'd kill for about 15 pints (my record) of Speights right now mind.
