Cost to lower ceilings

We've been quoted £4000 to lower 3 rooms ceilings in order make enough head height for loft conversion. 

 

Is that about right!?

All depends on the work included..? Are they looking at putting in dropped ceiling joists for example..? Are these being cut into the walls..?

 

If they are doing structural work then it could be a good price, if its just a supended ceiling then it could be expensive.

 

As @nod says, we could do with some plans to give an idea of what is being proposed.

Probably. It’s not a hard job but it’s invasive. Internal walls need reducing in height, chemical plates, new joists, boarding, skimming, electrics moving.
