Does the stamp duty holiday apply to building plots?

Recommended Posts

I imagine the answer might depend on whether the plot is part of an existing property's land. Either way, does anyone know?

This suggests the holiday does apply..

The SDLT threshold before the announcement was £125,000 for residential properties, and £150,000 for non-residential land and properties.

Since July 8, the Stamp Duty threshold has increased to £500,000.

"Developers" and those purchasing a second home will still have to pay the 3% surcharge. Actually if you own a house you have to pay it and reclaim when you sell within 36 months.

So I believe if you are buying the land to build your principle residence the holiday should apply. Err I think.
