The main news is that any planning permission with an expiry date between 23rd March (start of lockdown) and 31st December 2020 will be automatically extended to 1st April 2021. This move is designed to enable projects, delayed only because of the lockdown, to avoid having to go through the planning system again.

I am applying for a consent this week where the LA are due to introduce CIL October 5th.

Does anyone have Robert Jenrick's mobile as I may need to give him a bell in case the LA look like they will not decide in time?

I have just had to ring my local council and they seemed pretty unaware this was happening. We had applied To renew our planning that runs out in July. This seems like great news.

Ok so I believe this is in the Business and Planning Bill. It has lots of different measures in it from longer construction hours to extending driving licenses and cafe use of pavements and street closures..

It has NOT yet received Royal Assent but is heading to the Lords. Status here..

If you have already filed to extend then they should take this into account when deciding your application. You might want to continue with it as that would give you three years not just next April. I wouldn't withdraw it too hastily in case the bill fails.

Thanks for the extra info. She said she was going to investigate as it’s not actually passed yet as you say. It runs out in July 14th so it might be best to just wait it out. Nothing has changed to the site in three years since planning was granted. It is an agricultural metal barn being demolished to build a 4 bed house.
