Question for @nod I think, but please feel free to chip in @Nickfromwales

just looking at height for my screed and need to work out tile heights. 

Can you fill in the blank thickness  I need to work out. 

 

Adhesive for ditra Matt_______ mm??

ditra Matt.                      _______ mm ??

adhesive for tiles.        _______  mm??

porcelain tiles.             10.5 mm

 

so overall I need to allow ________ mm??

I went round that desert endlessly. Overthinking everything.

Cometh  C-19, cometh trades from far and wide. Among them a tiler.

 

He saw what we had done , took out a rule sucked his teeth a bit and said

Wotcha worrying for? This is flatter than the average pancake.  In which case it's fine.

But heights for this, that, the other says I.... God damn the man he actually said

Most of the jobs I quote for aren’t built So we are quoting off plan 

I always say allow 30 40 mil

I’m the past I’ve done 4-5mm adhesive under the Ditra, then, whilst still relatively wet, butter the top of the Ditra and then lay 12mm notch over the top. 2-3mm butter on the back of the tile and away to go. 
Main thing is to roll the Ditra out straight and evenly so it doesn’t quilt. If you get a couple of mm quilt then the adhesive cures underneath and you end up having to add way more adhesive up top or cutting the Ditra to remove the ‘ripples’.

I mop the dry screed with 75% water / 25% flexible primer, immediately prior to laying, so the adhesive under the mat doesn’t go off so quickly, a real problem when putting a thin coat of wet adhesive over a bone dry ( often dusty and porous as hell ) screed.
