Tom T Posted May 26, 2020 Share Posted May 26, 2020 May 26, 2020 6:44 pm Hi all, I'm looking to sell my house and I'm wondering if the state of mortar around a window installation (done by the previous owner) is going to be an issue on a survey. I never noticed it till we decided to sell. There is no issues with damp or any problems from that window, it just looks abit suspect and I'm worrying it may be an issue if a full survey is to be carried out. You might consider replacing the window with a wider one at same time as replacing the lintel. Have any other windows got lintel problems? Roundtuit Posted May 26, 2020 Share Posted May 26, 2020 Looks like the old lintel (like your neighbours) has been taken out to put a taller window in, and maybe moved to the right a bit. It's been done badly with an undersized bit of steel so the brickwork has dropped. Not sure what's going on with the pointing to the right; looks like it's been painted on. I'd try and get it tidied up a bit - repoint above the window, make the gutter joint look better and get rid of the vegetation - and see what comes up on a survey.
