Handmade clay tiles at 30 degrees

Water

Recommended Posts

Evening all,

My roof pitch is around 30 degrees and I can't see any handmade clay tiles which are suitable for this pitch, my roofer said one solution is to use extra waterproofing but this comes at a big cost (est £10k), with that cost I could get some pretty expensive tiles.

I'd be delighted to hear any handmade tiles which can be used at this pitch if anyone has any ideas.

Maybe I can switch to slate...

+1 on the Sandtoft 20/20. Not handmade, but we used them on a rear extension with a shallow pitch some 10 years ago (instead of interlocking concrete which as far as I could tell was the only other option). Not a great pic, but the only one I have to hand (lower roof line).

In a situation like the one you described I successfully used a system called Ondutile without any problems. Building Control were happy to accept it. It was on a 25sq.m lean-to extension where I could only achieve a low pitch but wanted to use a clay tile. We lived in the house for another 5 years after doing the extension without any issues with the roof.
