I have been nailing away on our frame today ans occassionaly I get what looks like a miss fire but they knock in with a hammer ok. I thought it might be bounce but it seems not to be as it happens on realy solid parts. Any ideas? PS Gun is a Dewalt electric framing nailer and the nails are 50mm long.

What is the standard deviation, i.e. does it happen a few times in a row, begining of nailing, towards end of nailing session, or apparently randomly.

Those two in the pic happened one after another but the 25 below and 33 above are fine.

Any chance it is just getting hot.

Stopping for a minute or two while dealing with the faulty firings may be enough to cool it a little.

Or it could be the nails, have a good look at the next batch.

I have been told by a highly respected repair man that the Dewalt nail guns (i have one the same) only like Dewalt nails, and not the cheaper brands.

Same with Paslode guns - run so much better on genuine paslode gas cylinders
