Pocster Posted June 13, 2019 Share Posted June 13, 2019 In my googling quest I came across automated loft ladders . Needless to say I got excited watching them open , extend , retract and close ? But the cost ended my quest . Typical price 2k + ? Though I did see one for a slightly more acceptable £500 mark . Anyone got one ? . It’s a lazy mans toy . Jeremy Harris Posted June 13, 2019 Share Posted June 13, 2019 The loft ladder in my workshop is operated by an electric winch. The winch is fitted up near the ridge and is normally used for lifting stuff up there, but I can just release the bolts that lock the ladder, hook the winch to a wire loop that runs around the bottom of the ladder and is connected to the loft hatch, then operate the winch and it folds the ladder then lifts the ladder and the hatch up. The winch cuts off when the wire rope is tight, and the spring keeps the hatch tightly closed. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That's an "after sign off" project, a ladder up to the mezanine, with a counter balance weight so you can raise and lower it with 1 finger.
