I tend to prefer walk-in showers, as I perceive wetrooms to be more vulnerable to damage / wear and tear. lizzie Posted June 8, 2019 Share Posted June 8, 2019 (edited) Wet room no contest and especially if you are doing the elderly/disabled conversion a tray/shower area makes no sense at all. Wet room flat floor all non slip throughout room easy to push a wheelchair or walker right into wet area, changes of surface can be as worrying as changes in levels for elderly, all one surface feels more secure. PeterW Posted June 8, 2019 Share Posted June 8, 2019 Walk in shower set into the floor ... level is the same +3mm of the tiles around and it’s sealed down to stop any leaks. Floor is also tanked around the edge and the shower tray recess. Wet rooms are ok if you design the structure around them and they have a strong floor to start with - joists at 400mm centres, screwed and glued boards etc Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The tiles I want were going to be a pain to cut for the wet room tray. I used the Aquaseal tanking kit before fitting the shower tray. Reminds me I have a 1500 x 900 wet room tray spare. joe90 Posted June 8, 2019 Share Posted June 8, 2019 I am not a fan of wet rooms per se, but my builder who has just had a stroke has had one fitted to make life easier fir him. I have two shower enclosures, shallow trays, glass panel and slipper (no door) and I love them. Saves water going all over the toilet etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
