  1. Been renovating a Hrade 2 listed building for around 6 years now, had builders to start with but had to sack them as wasting time, money and rubbish job. Installed 22kW gshp and all running well, now istalling off grid solar and a little confused about how to go fro 3 phase to 3 separate single phase consumer boards. We asked for dno apprpval but local supply can't support us, wanted 50k to put us on 3 phase. Hence Solar and off grid. Iscthere anyonecwho supplies correct kit to go from 200amp 3 phase split down andcsupplying up to 80 amp on any single leg? Picture, link or really good description would be much appreciated. Solar is 48 panels of 410w to 3 x 10kW inverters in parallel. 6 x 100amp 52v batteries in series linked to all 3 inverters, Master and 2 slaves. Output will be from the single master inverter. We will end up off grid. Soon as Solar is running. Don't want ENW to have anything from us!!
  2. I'm currently working on a listed house with original single glazed Crittall windows. We'd like to improve the energy efficiency of the house if we can, and would prefer not to go down the secondary glazing route. Does anyone know if it is possible to retrofit super slim vacuum glazing into existing metal windows? The only stuff I can find online is about retrofitting it into wooden sash windows...
  3. I am looking at purchasing a tiny bit of land off the neighbouring property which is a Listed property(mine isn’t Listed). It’s only a corner section big enough to park a car directly off the street(no kerb exists and there is already an opening in the wall so no demolition works either). I already have a right of access over the land in question for access to a garage door entrance and access to my garden. I would like to know if anyone has experienced anything like this? Is it a simple procedure? Would Listed Building Consent be required even tho no physical building is involved, just a tiny bit of land on the corner? Am I wrong to assume it is a simple task and Land Registry are contacted to determine the land boundary change and then just update the deeds. With my property not being listed it may mean a separate title deed is drawn up just for the piece of land being transferred into a new name rather than added to my title deed. Assuming the little bit of land in question would no longer need to be listed as it contains no building or structure.
  4. I have a requirement for my listed building consent that I must fit "cast iron or alternative metal material" for my guttering. There are both cast iron and aluminium products available and there does not appear to be a huge difference in price. Why are two different products offered and is there any difference in the performance or use? Aluminium will obviously be lighter. Any thoughts would be great!
