  1. We bought a new house with garage door towards garden in a bit not so aesthetically pleasing state. Now we wish to fix this but I am currently not sure given the gaps between wall and the floor height from the door frame. I would appreciate if you could give me some insight to get going. Please see the picture attached
  2. Hello, Does anyone know if you can have a door (that swings into the room) at the top of a set of stairs without the 400mm? I've attached a drawing Thanks
  3. Hi everyone, We have recently downsized and bought a lovely 2 bed cottage. At the moment we still have our youngest son living with us who is working from home at present. We are currently converting an old brick outbuilding into a study (mostly for his use as he is using the dining-room at present!) and nothing is a standard size! I appreciate that we could have a wooden door 'made to measure' but time is now of the essence as I am also now having to work partly from home. I wondered if any of you far more experienced people know of any companies that have odd sized doors in stock. Ours measures 1981x685mm or 78x27"
  4. Noticed a small problem tonight. Our larder door has been fitted as requested with a 20mm gap under it (20mm gap to allow for floor tiles). But it is an external door (the larder is outside the passive envelope) and the door hasn’t been sealed against the floor/threshold . It’s basically a gap of 20mm letting outside air in (our air test was done with a temporary door in place). Our floor tiler is coming on Friday. So this problem is a bit pressing. How shall we fill this gap? We are passive standard (but not getting certified). Any advice welcomed. thank you.
  5. 102mm, well done. Pass Go, collect £100. Its not a deliberately stupid question. Everywhere we go , I've recently been surreptitiously measuring door widths. I try hard not to let Debbie see me do so - not entirely successfully. Door widths are important - but 102mm difference? Does so little make so much difference? Why not 964? Thinking about bedrooms upstairs, why would I choose 864 over 762? Yep, I'm of a certain age, yep, the usual is happening.
  6. Following on from my previous post where my patio door lock was getting stiff, despite trying to lubricate it it is now jammed so I guess I will have to get someone out to sort it . Was having a look around at locks etc and wondered about this. No keys needed. Anyone got one, or something similar? What do people think about security of this type of thing? I haven't checked whether it will fit my door yet however. Smart Door Lock
  7. One of the locks on my French doors is becoming very stiff to unlock. Had a look online and various links say squirt with WD40, never use WD40, use 3 in 1 oil, use graphite powder, remove the barrel and clean etc. So now I’m confused about what to do. Any tips please as the lock on the back door is the same type and the one I rely on to get in the house and that’s getting a little stiff now too.
  8. Has anyone needed to re-seal their shipping container door with new rubber seals? If so, which adhesive did you use, please?
  9. I've ordered my front door from a continental manufacturer and need to provide them with a RAL or NCS colour code as I'd like them to match my cedar cladding. Any ideas what is the closest RAL match to unweathered Western red cedar is? I realise there will be colour variations in every cedar cut, but as long as it's a rough match.... The cladding won't be on the same face of the property, so a 100% match is not vital. I also realise that over time the cedar cladding will weather so eventually they won't match anyway. TIA! OB. PS: Good to be back!
