well folks, just wondering if anyone who has blown cellulose had it blown into the studwork as well. i know it's good for sound deadening but was wondering if it would be good to deaden the sound in the studs. had thought of 63mm cls with service cavity both sides. other option would be 89mm cls, services within studwork and still blown cellulose, any problems with wiring? the 63mm would therefore be air/cellulose/air so changing the soundwave as it moves through partition but the 89mm is a thicker wall, thoghts as to which would be better? cheers

Who wants to buy a cellulose blower machine to do their own insulation? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184351303218 I would love to buy it but am approx. 13-15months away from needing the insualtion done. Have been talking with many I here about the blown in insualtion and that it is such a shame you can't rent or buy those machines in the UK. In USA its an easy DIY install as machines are readily available to hire. Would buy or rent it off whoever wants to buy it now once he/she used it but just don't have storage at the moment for it. Anybody needing blown in insualtion? -
That's alot of insulation - over 600 bags of the stuff. They cut a load of holes in the MBC vapour layer ply. More holes than we ever imagined. Then they pump the insulation into the holes to fill up the walls (300mm deep) and ceilings (400mm deep). Some of it escapes. Easy to vacuum up though. Then they put the ply discs back in and tape over the holes. They have left us with some patches for areas of the ceiling they can't reach and for any they might have missed. Only found one so far. Sean and his firm - works subcontracted for MBC for alot of the pumped cellulose insulation for them - was fantastic. The house is definitely warmer inside now, and the echo is now deadened. It is so quiet in there. Can't wait to move in........

Would anyone happen to know where I can buy cellulase from in a non-industrial quantity? I want to soften some linen fabric and the two main constituents that make linen stiff are cellulose and pectin. Pectolase is easy enough to get hold of from home brewing shops and I'm running some linen through the washing machine with some at the moment to see how it gets on. When you buy enzyme washed linen, though, it's been treated with both pectolase and cellulase but it's also hideously expensive for a bit of linen, hence wanting to do it myself. I have quite a number of eager sewing friends awaiting the outcome of this experiment, so if I can find a source it would be great. Unfortunately, the stuff is commonly stocked (Amazon et al) is healthfood stuff and isn't what I'm after. Can anyone help?

has anyone used steico blown fibre insulation? it has the same u value as cellulose but has a higher specific heat capacity, almost 1/3rd more.
